Dr. Robert Franklin

RMF Official Head ShotDr. Robert M. Franklin is James T. and Berta R. Laney Professor of Moral Leadership, Senior Advisor for Community and Diversity at Emory University (Atlanta), and Director of the Religion Department at The Chautauqua Institution (Chautauqua, New York). He is president emeritus of Morehouse College, the nation’s largest private, four-year liberal arts college for men, where he served as the tenth president from 2007 through 2012.  In 2013, he was a Visiting Scholar at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Research and Education Institute at Stanford University.

Dr. Franklin holds ordination in two Christian denominations:  the American Baptist Churches USA and the Church of God in Christ.

He provides weekly commentary for Atlanta Interfaith Broadcasting Television.

Dr. Franklin is married to Dr. Cheryl Goffney Franklin, an OB-GYN physician who holds degrees from Stanford University, Columbia University School of Public Health and Harvard Medical School. He is the father of three children: Imani R. Franklin; Robert M. Franklin III and Julian M. DeShazier, and has one granddaughter, Dania.
