The Honorable Larry Eger
The Honorable Larry Eger was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1957. He moved with his family to Sarasota in 1968. Eger is a graduate of Sarasota Schools and earned his B.A and J.D. from The University of Florida. He began work at the Public defenders Office as a legal clerk while attending law school. After serving as an attorney in the office for 24 years, he was elected as the Public Defender for the 12th Judicial District, which includes Sarasota, Manatee, and Desoto counties in 2008 and was reelected in 2012.
His civic involvement includes Vice-Chair of the Jewish Children and Family Services, Co-Founder and past President of the Sarasota School of Arts and Science. Board Member of Legal Aid of Manasota, and Chairs the training committee for the Public Defenders Association of Florida.
And most importantly, he’s married to Susan Burns and father to Isaac and Anna.
He is a very able administrator and excellent public speaker.
