Florida Studio Theatre is no stranger to performing for young audiences. For 28 years FST’s award-winning arts integration program, WRITE A PLAY, has been reaching students all over Florida and in countries around the world. This year’s touring productions include an imaginative and theatrical adaptation of Snow White by Greg Banks, the interactive Imagination Rocks! performed by FST’s Playmakers, and a showcase of winning plays by young playwrights in A Beary Big Adventure. Touring shows will reach students in Sarasota, Manatee, and Broward Counties, and as far as Camden, NJ this year.
In addition to performances, FST’s team of professional teaching artists will be in residence at elementary, middle, and high schools leading workshops in Playwriting, Emotional Intelligence, and Improvisation. These arts integrated learning experiences amplify classroom curriculum with fun and engaging theatrical methodology, allowing students to learn and express themselves in a creative, new way.
The holidays also brought an exciting addition to FST’s Children’s Theatre program with a gift of a new tour van. The van is getting “wrapped for the holidays” with some of FST’s most memorable photos. This generous gift is one that will keep on giving, making it possible for FST to reach over 25,000 students this year with the gift of live theatre thanks to a generous grant from Bank of America Client Foundation, through the Virginia White Clark Fund, Bank of America, N.A, Trustee along with support from our individual donors through the Community Foundation of Sarasota County Giving Challenge.
