Many groups featured in Unchained Melodies have produced music that has made it all the way to the Great White Way. Take a look at a few of the Broadway shows inspired by male harmony groups and their music.
Jersey Boys: This musical tells the story of the formation, success, and eventual dissolution of The Four Seasons. The show took Broadway by storm in 2005, winning the Tony Award for Best Musical.
Motown: The Musical: Developed by Berry Gordy Jr. himself, Motown: The Musical centers around Motown Records’ rise to prominence, and on Gordy himself as well as the artists he helped to propel to stardom.
Smokey Joe’s Cafe: This musical revue captures the essence of the period, featuring the songs of Mike Leiber and Jerry Stoller, the songwriters behind artists like Elvis Presley, The Drifters, The Coasters, and others.
